Brrr!

Yesterday evening felt like the coldest one for a long time.  I’m not sure what the temperature was but it was COLD!

Thankfully, it’s been a sunny day today with only a few brief snow showers and temperatures seem to be hanging around zero degrees.  Curstie had stuck a ruler into the snow a few days ago, and judging by the reading of 4.5″, quite a bit has melted.

The icicles hanging from the roof line look amazing. As they melt and re-freeze, they’re starting to point towards the house…very weird!

We’ve added another hanging bird table to one of the trees and have filled it with all manner of goodies and stocked up the existing bird feeders. Thankfully, by running one of the pond pumps, there’s a small section of water that hasn’t frozen over for the visiting birds to drink & bathe.

Speaking of visiting birds, we seem to have a new visitor in the garden. Originally I though it was a Redwing but a quick check on the web shows it to be a Fieldfare.  Whatever it is, it seems to have taken a shine to our crab apple tree. If it’s about tomorrow, I’ll try and take a few photos.

Our  wooden barrel pond covered with snow looks like a giant cup cake. All it needs is a Cherry on top.

Waterfall on our roof!

Hehe, zero degrees ain’t that cold, believe me! 🙂 I live in Russia, Moscow, and almost every winter we face up to -30 by Celsius! I still don’t think it is too much cold, because in Siberia people experiencing up to -50.

Wow, I can’t even imagine what -30c must feel like! This last winter though was probably the coldest I can ever remember over here though.

Mind you, typically us brits are famous for moaning about it being too cold and then in summer moan about it being too hot, moan when it’s too dry and then moan even more when it rains 🙂
