Clearing the veggie plot…day 2

Up and out early on Friday morning to get stuck into day two. It was heavy going at times, especially digging a lot of clay and encountering numerous bricks  buried beneath the soil. When we first moved into this house the area behind the garage was home to two sheds. Judging by the number of bricks evident I guess they were used as a  foundation?

By the end of day two, and as light was fading, the truck arrived to pick up the now very full skip. I’d called the skip hire guys earlier in the afternoon because they have a tendency to ignore Friday collections in favour of waiting until Monday and i certainly didn’t want a skip stuck on the driveway until then. Aching after nearly nine hours of digging (hey I’m an IT Technician not a Landscape gardener:-) I retired quite content at the progress so far.

Here’s how things were looking about 4pm yesterday afternoon.
